A stirring second half comeback earned Hinckley a fifth straight home win, and this over play-off chasing March was the most impressive of the lot.
Fourth placed March took an early lead, but Hinckley overcame both that setback and the wretched weather with a display of character that demonstrated a real will to win.
After such a turnover of playing personnel this season, this group is now starting to settle. Just one change from last week saw Jay D’Lionga return after Alex Vineall’s concussion last weekend and a level of continuity contributed to the performance.
March raced into an early lead, Daniel Emmington’s long throw wasn’t cleared and Craig Gillies took advantage to fire the visitors ahead.
Undeterred, AFC responded well. They attacked well down both flanks with Luke Jones and Leo Farruch behind much of their good work, the latter cutting inside only to curl a shot just beyond the far post before driving a ball across the goalmouth that no one could get a touch on.
The weather was awful, a blustery wind and sweeping rain made life difficult but the players deserved enormous credit for producing a very watchable game, and Zaki Evans came close to a leveller when he headed Ky Green’s searching cross inches wide.
That early goal saw March with the half time advantage, but with the wind at their backs after the break, Hinckley got on top and turned the game around with a quickfire double midway through the half. Farruch made it two goals in two games as he levelled with a composed finish following a slick passing move that opened up the March defence.
And the cheers had hardly died down when Hinckley took the lead, Adam Barber doing superbly well to get to the left hand byline and pulling a ball back for Bryan Kohyrelon to apply a neat finish at the near post.
Hinckley secured the points with ten minutes remaining, Barber again making ground on the left flank and delivering an inviting cross that led to shots being blocked by defenders and the keeper before Kohyrelon took matters into his own hands and drove the ball home to complete a rousing second half performance.
