Hinckley AFC return to league action for the second part of the Bank Holiday weekend as they make a first ever trip to Gresley Rovers.
Hot off the back of Saturday’s League Cup loss at Clipstone comes a chance for Hinckley to right the wrongs of Saturday.
It’ll be a first competitive meeting with the Moatmen, as Hinckley prepare to take on a side who have had a similarly mixed start to the season as their own.
The opposition
Gresley also endured a tough afternoon on Saturday, losing 6-0 to Eastwood, a game in which they played virtually the full 90 with 10 men having had Jake Conkay sent off with only a minute on the clock, and they’ve also been knocked out of the League Cup this week, going down 1-0 to Kimberley Miners Welfare.
They sit directly below Hinckley in the table, two of five sides with seven points so far in the UCL North.
Of their two wins, undoubtedly the most impressive was a 3-2 success away at then-leaders Clay Cross Town, with their other win coming at home to Heanor Town. They also drew 0-0 at home to Sheffield.
Rovers are now managed by former Ashby boss Andy Gray and a number of players from his Ivanhoe side followed him across the border into Derbyshire – including striker Sam Grouse who bagged two in that win at Clay Cross.
