Hinckley AFC will be holding a bucket collection at Saturday’s match to support Courtney Belford and Joe Obi in their charity efforts this spring.
Both our assistant manager and striker/centre half are taking on demanding physical efforts in April and May, and we’re inviting supporters of both Hinckley and Bilston Town to donate to their causes.
Courtney’s hair hasn’t been cut since before he joined the club four years ago, but he’s now going to “tame the mane” and donate it to the Little Princess Trust, who provide real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatments.
It costs the Trust £550 to create a wig from his hair, so he’s also cycling 550 miles in April, more than 18 miles each day for 30 days, to cover the cost of the wig making process. Any money left over will go towards funding kinder and more effective treatments for all childhood cancers.
Joe, meanwhile, will be running and riding across the country in May for BBC Children in Need.
He’s travelling 630 miles, from the top of England to the bottom, by cycling 100 miles and then running a marathon each day for five days. He’ll start on 26th May in Marshall Meadows Bay and finish in Lands End five days later.
This year marks 20 years since the passing of Joe’s father, and funds raised from his challenge will go towards his dad’s favourite charity, Children in Need.
We’ll be moving around the ground with the buckets, which will go towards two hugely deserving causes from two superb challenges.
Alternatively, you can donate via their JustGiving pages, with Courtney’s here and Joe’s here.
Good luck, Courtney and Joe!
