Matt Dawson has returned to Hinckley AFC after a season away, helping Rugby Borough to promotion from the United Counties Premier South.
Part of our Midland League Cup final and Division One title-winning squads, Dawson played 86 times across two seasons in his first spell with Hinckley.
His energetic displays up and down the right flank saw him chip in with 19 goals, including in our 2023 play-off semi-final against Droitwich Spa. They saw him win the Supporters’ Player of the Year vote in both of his two seasons with the club, while he also featured our Ten-Year Team when fans picked their favourite 11s from our first decade.
Manager Joe Conneely said: “We’re delighted to have Daws back with us. We messed up a bit by not taking him back when we had the chance before last season started, and he went on to have a brilliant year at Rugby Borough.
“He’s loved by all the fans here and he loves the club so I’m really pleased he’s come back to us. He gives us goals and assists, and defends extremely well so he will no doubt make us stronger as we look to improve on last season.”
