Hinckley AFC will target a fifth straight home win and a place in the first round of the FA Vase when they take on Stafford Town on Friday evening.
AFC’s run of four in a row at home feels like a long time ago, with no match at Kirkby Road for nearly a month.
But those consecutive wins included a win over Paget Rangers in the Vase that sees Joe Conneely’s side into the second qualifying round.
Conneely is aware of the club’s short runs in the Vase in recent years and wants to change that this time around.
He said: “This is a wonderful competition and one that we’ll take very seriously. Our mentality is the league first but the Vase comes a very close second and that’s always how it will be.
“We want to do well in other cups as well, of course we want to win every game we play, but the FA Vase is one where we want to go as far as we can.
“Hopefully come Monday’s draw, we’ll be in the next round and in that hat.”

In the second qualifying round, Hinckley face former league rivals Stafford Town looking for a spot in round one for the first time in four years.
Now of the North West Counties League, Stafford have remained at step six since their lateral move from the Midland League. They sit 16th in the First Division South, with two wins and two draws giving them eight points from their ten games so far.
Both of those wins came away from home – 4-0 at Rocester and 3-0 at Cammell Laird.
The last meeting between the sides came in September 2020, when Tom Weale’s stunning halfway line goal contributed to a 3-0 Hinckley win.
