The vote for Hinckley AFC’s Player of the Month for February is now open with four nominees to choose from.
Another good month for Courtney Belford’s side yielded five wins from five matches as we go into March top of the table.
But who stood out as your Hinckley AFC Player of the Month? We’ve narrowed it down to four nominees – and these are who we’ve gone with…
The nominees
Jack Edwards’ industry in midfield sees him get a nomination. He scored three times this month, including two stunners against Harrowby United and an early strike at Holwell Sports. Despite missing most of the game against Clifton All Whites after picking up a head injury, the postponement of the Belper United match meant he still started all five games this month. He also picked up the Rosepetals Supporters’ Man of the Match against Harrowby.
Charlie Evans’ five goals in the first three games saw him make it to seven scoring appearances in a row after a spectacular strike at Ingles. He netted twice at Holwell and also scored our first goal of the month with an early header against Barrow. But it wasn’t just about goals, with a handful of assists and his constant chasing down of seemingly lost causes another vital asset through the month.
This month also saw Ryan Harkin become the first Hinckley player to hit back-to-back hat-tricks in six years, as he fired eight goals in the month. He scored once against Holwell and once against Harrowby – either side of clinical trebles against Ingles and Clifton, the latter being particularly crucial in a performance that earned him the Man of the Match.
The final nominee is Ben Vallance, impressive in defence ever since joining at the end of October. He was part of the back line that kept two clean sheets in February and, bar one collectively shaky half against Clifton, only conceded twice in the other four and a half games. He also picked up the Man of the Match against Barrow and his record of winning every single match he’s played for Hinckley is still in tact.
