Hinckley AFC will hope to play just the second match since October 19 and end a weather-affected spell with a local derby at the Welfare Ground tomorrow.
Since that date, Courtney Belford’s side have only been able to play one match – a last-gasp win at Nuneaton Griff when Ryan Ball and Lewis Commins gave AFC all three points.
But they have been beaten by the conditions four times in recent weeks with the heavy rain wreaking havoc around the Midlands non-league fixture lists.
One of the few sides the weather hasn’t affected is tomorrow’s opposition, Leicester Road, who have played eight times in the same period that Hinckley have played once.
That spell has seeen them move to the top of the league, as its leading scorers, though they have played the most games of anyone in the division and as many as five matches more than some other sides.
They have the league’s leading marksman in Matt Langham, while Jordan Burrows and Nino Gomes have nine apiece, but Hinckley’s new addition of the prolific Shane Benjamin should help them improve on the 29 league goals so far.
Meetings between the two are regularly tight affairs, with never any more than two goals between the sides across nine previous clashes.
