Five goal hero Ryan Seal admits yesterday’s win at Greenwood Meadows was just one of those days where everything went in.
Seal scored twice in the first half and three times after the break as AFC overturned an early deficit to reach the next round.
And the former Kirby Muxloe man was delighted to contribute heavily to the win. He said: “I think it was at Long Eaton in the Vase last year where I did everything but score, the next game they just seem to fly in.
“You’re going to get games where they go in and games where don’t – fortunately for me everything I hit today went in.
“It’s not just pleasing for me, but it’s great for the team to get through to the next round. We’ve won five games out of six now and we’re looking good.”
Seal was also quick to praise his teammates for providing his with the chances, insisting he doesn’t want all the glory.
“I’ll make the runs, and if the balls are there I’ll finish them. It’s a team game so I don’t want all the glory, there will be times when I set Sam and the other lads up, and vice versa.
“We’re all in it together and whenever we can help each other out we do that.”
Seal has also taken on the role of club captain this season, and having scored twelve goals already this season seems to be relishing the role.
“It’s a big job. Some big names have had the armband in the past but I relish it and really enjoy it.
“In my job I do things like that, so I think it comes naturally to me. I do lose my rag sometimes but you need that sometimes. Likewise, I’m quite happy to give the lads a pat on the back when they’re doing well.”
