Kear continues

Drew Kear has become the latest player to commit to Hinckley AFC for the 2026/27 season as the squad continues to take shape for the new campaign.

Local lad Drew, now in his third spell with the club, returned last November and added another 19 appearances to his tally, which now stands at 59.

He’s also chipped in with five goals from right-back, most notably away to Kimberley Miners Welfare in 2021, where we’ll return this season after being moved to the United Counties Premier North.

Kear said: “Football’s about playing where you’re valued, enjoying the game, and being part of something bigger than yourself.

“Loyalty, minutes on the pitch, and representing your local community often mean more than chasing opportunities that aren’t guaranteed. Sometimes the best move is to stay where you’re appreciated, keep improving, and help build something special.

“You can’t beat playing with good lads and, even more, representing my local club. I’m really looking forward to the season.”

Kear joins Zach Tellyn, Zaki Evans, Luke Jones and Sonny Sheasby in preparing for the new season with Hinckley and joint boss Adam Davies says he’s a vital part of their line-up.

He said: “To have Drew back is massively important. Not only for the forward-thinking and positive manner in which he plays which allows us to be front footed and aggressive, but also for what an incredible asset he is to the changing room, as a role model in bringing groups together.

“Drew will have his best season yet in the one forthcoming, we trust him immensely and he has added huge value since returning.”

Welcome back, Drew!
