Hinckley AFC start their Leicestershire Senior Cup campaign for 2022/23 with the visit of ProChance to Kirkby Road on Monday night.
AFC will target a seventh straight home win in the Cup tie, after last week’s 6-1 victory over Chelmsley Town.
And they’ll be happier back on home turf with their away form continuing to stutter after Saturday’s defeat at Ashby Ivanhoe.
Now they get a break from league action against a side from the level below, and a unique club who aim to pick up players released from professional academies and give them a second chance to bounce back into the full-time game.
ProChance are in their second season in the Senior League Premier Division – and finished 16th last term.
They’ve only played five league matches this time around, winning their first two before losing their next three including at Hathern on Saturday. They sit 12th in the table.
The game marks a return to County Cup competitions for the first time since pre-covid days. AFC’s last game in the competition was a defeat at Ashby in October 2019.
But it’s a return to the tournament that Hinckley won back in 2016, having reached the final the previous season.
