Captain commits: Evans retained

Hinckley AFC are pleased to confirm that club captain Zaki Evans will remain with the club for 2026/27.

Now our longest-serving player, Zaki will enter his fourth season with Hinckley next term having originally joined in the summer of 2023 and been part of our title-winning team in his first campaign.

A leader in the dressing room, he was appointed club captain ahead of last season and is ready to hit the ground running again after an injury-hit season last time out.

He has remained committed to the club despite playing in a league further away from his home near Burton, so for him the move to the United Counties Premier North is a welcome relief!

Joint boss Adam Davies said: “Loyalty goes a long way in football and it’s a rarity in non league, but it truly is something that epitomises the quality of character and fans’ favourite Zaki Evans is.

“Still a figurehead and leader, Zaki has been ever present since returning from injury, and we think he is now in a position to fully recover from the injury that hampered him for so much of last season.

“Zaki will bring the dressing room together, and it’s only fair he has games around his way this time around!”

Delighted to be staying on again, Evans said: “First and foremost I am buzzing to be playing for Hinckley again this coming season.

“I think the new challenge of the more northern league is really exciting. It’ll be nice to play in some local games for me as well against familiar faces.

“Last season was a difficult one with a long term injury but now it’s time to kick on, have a good pre-season and start strong and give back to all the people that stood by us in tough circumstances last year.

“Up the Hinckley ❤️💙”

Welcome back, Zaki!
