Hinckley AFC play their final home game of the season with the visit of Bilston Town on Saturday, after which they’ll be presented with the Midland League Division One trophy.
AFC will cap off a memorable season at Kirkby Road by lifting the title, which they confirmed with a win at Heather St John’s last week.
And it means there will be a celebratory feel on Saturday as Hinckley play their final home game at step six before embarking on next season’s debut campaign at step five.
The opposition
Bilston, meanwhile, will want to spoil that party as they visit in search of the win that, while it’s highly unlikely that they’ll make the play-offs, would at least mean they end the season on a high.
Their 3-0 defeat to Allscott Heath last night means they are now 10 points back from the play-offs with four games to play.
They have recorded 16 wins, four draws and 14 defeats from their 34 matches thus far but just one win in six since the start of March has seen their play-off hopes drift.
With 21 goals, Sam Yankson has been their biggest forward threat while Soms Sibanda, former Bedworth winger Eesa Sawyers, Adam Nazir and Jake Short are all in double figures for the season too.
Previous meetings
One of the key moments of Hinckley’s season was the win away to Bilston back in August – a 3-1 success at Queen Street in which Brandon Bache made an important late penalty save.
Hinckley also won the away game last season, while the home fixture last term also fell as Hinckley’s last Saturday home game of the season when a pulsating, end-to-end match ended as a 1-1 draw.
