Hinckley AFC Under 18s fell to their second league defeat of the season after losing 2-1 at Tamworth.
It was a difficult night for the youngsters, who applied late pressure in search of an equaliser but it wasn’t enough to earn them any points, writes Lee Measom.
The game didn’t really get going until fifteen minutes in, and the first real chance yielded the first goal for the home side. Hinckley had the ball in Tamworth’s box but it was taken away and countered by Tamworth, who played a lovely ball across to their right flank where the winger played a simple ball into the box and that was simply tapped home.
The game had a lot of half chances, but the only real threats all led to goals, Tamworth’s second coming eight minutes before half-time. In what was a dominant half by the hosts, a shot from outside the box launched over Pearce’s head for a second.
Hinckley did manage to pull one back before half-time, a corner from Checkland met the head of Gamble which led to deflection but Hinckley didn’t mind as they looked to level the game up.
The second half had little to report. The only real chance came from a Hinckley corner, Friday whipped it in to Donaldson who headed over.
Despite all the late pressure from the visitors, it wasn’t enough to take any points away from The Lamb.
