Hinckley AFC take another break from league action tomorrow when they visit Lichfield City in the first round of the Midland League Cup.
Fresh after a 2-1 win over Brocton at the weekend, AFC face a quick return to action as the cup competitions start to arrive in earnest for Courtney Belford’s men.
But before the start of the Jelson Homes Senior Cup next week, AFC face a trip up the A5 to start their League Cup campaign at Lichfield.
The two sides are locked level on points at the top of the Division One table, with AFC, in second, above third-placed Lichfield only on goal difference.
But as the sides break from league action Hinckley have a chance to build on Saturday’s victory over leaders Brocton with cup progression at the City Ground.
Lichfield edged past Stapenhill in a seven-goal thriller on Saturday, coming back from 3-2 down to continue their impressive home record.
This will be their eighth home game out of nine, and they have only failed to win once on their 3G surface this season when Heath Hayes took a 2-0 win.
As was the case last season, James Taylor has led the way in front of goal but Kyle Patterson, the ex-Tamworth man and former LA Galaxy teammate of David Beckham’s, has also starred.
Lichfield play at the City Ground, known for sponsorship purposes as the McDonald’s Community Stadium, Brownsfield Road, Lichfield, Staffordshire, WS13 6AY.
