Hinckley AFC take on Rocester for the second time in a row today looking to hit back after last week’s defeat.
And manager Courtney Belford says it’s ideal that his side face the same opposition this week as they aim to put the last gasp defeat behind them.
Last time out, two stoppage time goals earned the Romans all three points in the league meeting between the sides, despite AFC taking a first half lead.
And Belford says the prospect of facing the same opponents straight away is motivation to hit back.
He said: “There’s nobody better to face than a team who have just turned you over in the last minute.
“They’ll have their tails up with a new management team having won their first game, so they’ll come with no pressure and think they can win the game.
“Cup games are about how you approach them and who turns up on the day. We need to make sure it’s us. For both of us, it’ll be a game we think we can win.”
Curtis Townley picked up an ankle injury in the first half of the game last week, and misses out this afternoon through the injury.
But Belford says the problem isn’t as bad as first feared, with the defender expected to be out for around a month.
But George Brindley is back in contention on the right, and Belford says the centre back spot gives opportunities to a number of others.
“It means we brought Liam Cross in at the right time before the game last week, and I thought he looked good. We’ve also got Greg Webb, Ash Gray and young Ellis Chambers who could come in.
“We’ve got plenty of options and they’ll all be chomping at the bit to impress should they get the chance.”
The winners today will reach the first round proper, and pick up £725 from the FA’s prize pool.
