Courtney Belford has confirmed that former Tamworth and Nuneaton Borough number two Steve Hinks will become his assistant manager at Hinckley AFC.
Hinks has a vast array of experience as a manager and an assistant at higher levels, having spent time been in charge at Wolves Sporting before taking up a coaching role at Nuneaton Borough, and then ending last term with Halesowen Town.
Prior to that, he had spells with Tamworth, Barwell, Rushall Olympic and Sutton Coldfield Town to name just a few and brings great depth of knowledge to the backroom staff.
On the appointment, Belford said: “He’s a massive appointment. As soon as I knew he was available, I contacted him straight away to try and get him here and it’s a huge show of faith in me and the club that he wants to come.
“I’ve known him a long time through my dad and he’s Mr non-league. Everyone who knows him will say how knowledgeable he is. He’s well known around the Birmingham area, and that adds another another level to what we can do and expands the areas we can delve into.
“He’s enthusiastic, and that will rub off on the young lads, and he’s got a great footballing brain.”
On top of that, Belford says it will be a chance for him to learn from someone who has seen as much of non-league football as Hinks has.
“At Nuneaton Griff there were three of us who were all around the same age, which wasn’t a bad thing because we all got on and respected each other’s opinions.
“But this is a chance for me to learn from his experience, and for him to trust me is massive.
“I’ve always been a ‘mouth shut, ears open’ kind of guy and to have Steve alongside me will be a chance for me to develop. He’s an old school bloke with new school values.”
