Match Preview: Stapenhill (a)

James Jepson’s first competitive game in charge sees Hinckley AFC travel to league newcomers Stapenhill on the opening day this afternoon.

It’s the start of an exciting new era for AFC with a new managerial team, a new playing squad and a new home ground for 2018-19.

And it all gets underway for real with the trip to Burton-based Stapenhill this afternoon.

Last season’s hectic run-in meant Hinckley finished in sixth place in 2017-18, but today marks a fresh start as Jepson and John Ramshaw look to make their mark.

The journey starts away to Stapenhill this afternoon. The Swans finished solidly in mid-table in the East Midlands Counties League last term, and are in a new era of their own having been transferred over to the Midland League this season.

They also have a new management team in charge, with Richard Lonsdale their new boss assisted by Richard

Hanslow.

And they too will be looking to get their new era off to a positive start, with their opening game against AFC followed by a trip to Racing Club Warwick on Tuesday.

Hinckley will be hoping for points on the board in their opening two games, today and Tuesday’s visit of Coventry Copsewood, before taking a break for the Emirates FA Cup next weekend.

AFC will be without central defensive duo Joe McLaughlin (hand) and Josh Spencer (awaiting international clearance) for the trip to Stapenhill.

The Swans play at Edge Hill, Maple Grove, Stapenhill, Burton-on-Trent, DE15 9NN
