The vote is now open for Hinckley AFC’s Rosepetals Player of the Month for January and February.
Given the number of postponements across the two months to start 2018, we’ve decided to combine the two months for the Player of the Month vote to include the FA Vase trip to Marske and the four league games that followed – against Paget, Pershore, Studley and Ilkeston.
After the Vase defeat, Richard Lavery and Tom Cherry steered the side to three wins and one draw in the league, even more impressive given the number of new faces bedding into the side.
But who stood out for you? Take a read of our nominee round-up and cast your vote…
Starting up front, and one man in particular has been at the Hart of our goalscoring exploits during the last couple of months (you see what we did there?!) – and Steve is the first nominee. The powerful forward has had a lethal start to the calendar year in front of goal, netting ten goals in his four league games. That included five in one night at Paget, and another four in a match-winning display against Ilkeston.
Experienced midfielder James Jepson has slotted seamlessly into the midfield and is next on the shortlist. A leader in the middle of the park, his set pieces have provided a threat as he formed part of the new midfield duo alongside Josh Burniston.
Continuing to move back down the pitch, defender James Williams has had another consistent start to the calendar year despite the comings and goings around him. Having looked comfortable whether at right back or in the middle, the reigning Young Player of the Year has made more appearances for the club than anyone else over the last two seasons.
Finally, Carl O’Neill has ensured that one player from each position has made it onto the shortlist. His first five games in a Hinckley shirt have been assured, with the former Nuneaton Griff ‘keeper impressing in his opening stages at the club. Fine saves have preserved the three points against Pershore and one against Studley, while his ever-alert nature have prevented further opposition chances.
The vote is open for exactly a week. You can find the poll pinned to our Twitter page (www.twitter.com/hinckley_afc) or head to the voting page of our website – hinckleyafc.org.uk/voting.
