Hinckley AFC can confirm that manager Dale Belford has stepped down from his role due to personal reasons.
After taking charge in October, Dale led the side to eight wins from his 12 games in charge including seven on the bounce from the start of November until Saturday’s draw at Lichfield.
He also guided the side to the fourth round of the FA Vase with two impressive wins over higher level sides, but personal reasons dictate that his time in charge has come to an end after just over two months at the helm.
Belford said: “I’m disappointed that my tenure has had to come to an end so soon, but I’ve enjoyed my short spell at the club and I’d like to thank the fans for their fantastic support in every way during my time here.”
We hope to have a full statement from Dale later in the week.
His assistant Richard Lavery and first team coach Tom Cherry will continue to take charge of the side and prepare the players for the FA Vase fourth round tie at Marske United on January 6.
Chairman Steve Jelfs said: “We are, of course, disappointed that Dale’s reign as manager has ended but we respect his decision to step down.
“We were delighted to appoint someone of Dale’s calibre to take over from Carl Abbott’s fine work and it’s a shame his tenure has ended so soon.
“We’re pleased that Richard and Tom have agreed to take interim charge and we’re likely to take our time appointing a successor to make sure it’s the right appointment for the club.”
The club would like to thank Dale for his contribution during his time at the club, and we wish him all the best for the future.
