Match Preview: Heath Hayes (a)
Hinckley AFC play the first of four games in a week when they travel to Staffordshire to face Heath Hayes this evening, kick off 7-45pm.
Carl Abbott’s side travel to AEI Rugby and Coventry United before hosting Bolehall Swifts next Tuesday, and start their hectic period of games against a Heath Hayes outfit who sit just one place above them in the league table.
With the heavy period of games coming up, Abbo has moved to add strength in depth to the spine of the team, with midfielder Lee Butler joining his squad. A former Chasetown man, Lee arrives from Romulus and is in line to make his debut this week.
Having been relegated from the Premier Division last year, this season has seen an in-form Heath Hayes side pick up six wins from their last seven league games. With tonight’s hosts sitting two points above Hinckley in the table, a win would see Abbo’s men leapfrog Heath Hayes into seventh place.
Only table toppers Coventry United boast a better defensive record, while their attacking threat is spearheaded by seventeen-goal Daniel Scragg, who scored all four goals for the Cannock-based side in the reverse fixture back in October, and eleven-goal Joseph Pickering.
Having been held to a 1-1 draw by Coventry Copsewood last time out, Hinckley will be looking to pick up all three points in their quest to qualify for the FA Cup next season, a competition which brought so much success this year.
Heath Hayes play at the Coppice Colliery Ground, Newlands Lane, Heath Hayes, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS12 3HH.
