Bedworth United 2-2 Hinckley AFC

Hinckley AFC’s pre-season campaign continued with a 2-2 draw against Bedworth United this evening.
On the 3G surface at The Oval, Hinckley fielded a mixture of first team players and trialists as they looked to challenge their opponents from two levels higher in the non-league pyramid.
The first half was goalless – Bedworth having the better of possession and goal chances, but Hinckley had neat pockets of play and could have scored themselves.
After the break, Hinckley took the lead on the hour mark. Hinckley broke forward from a Bedworth corner and David Blenkinsopp was fouled from behind in the box. Ryan Seal converted from the penalty spot to put AFC ahead.
But Bedworth equalised ten minutes later with a neat finish low into the bottom corner that gave Tom Cross – who was kept busy with several routine saves during the night – no chance.
Hinckley continued to keep their shape well, and scored a second as the game approached its latter stages. A fine ball by Tom McCrystal found Kieran Miller, who struck the under side of the bar, but Seal slammed home the rebound from close range.
Hinckley looked destined to cause a pre-season upset, but Bedworth levelled again in the final minute as Cross was sent the wrong way from the spot.
Hinckley’s next pre-season encounter sees them travel to Wolves Sporting on Saturday for a 3pm kick off.
