Young defender Adam Barber featured on the bench a couple of times for Hinckley AFC during the early part of 2021/22, but didn’t manage to break into the side.

As such, Courtney Belford allowed him to go on loan to Nuneaton Griff and he played 13 times for them as they finished 8th in the division.

Having returned to Hinckley that summer, Joe Conneely said he’d returned “a completely different player” and thrust him into the starting line-up after a couple of early defeats. His return coincided with an upturn in form as the side, with Barber in it, won its next four games.

He continued to play a part as the side reached the play-off semi-final, but had his biggest impact to date with a goal in the 90th minute of the League Cup final as Hinckley lifted the trophy at the Bescot Stadium.

He remained part of the side the following season, featuring in a variety of positions as the club won the Midland League Division One.
