Abbo delighted with final league victory

Hinckley AFC signed off their season yesterday in some style with a 5-1 victory away at Littleton that left boss Carl Abbott thrilled.
“I thought we were very good today and professional from the word go, we played with an intensity and finished the season off properly.
“There was always the possibility of results going for us elsewhere so it was important that we did it right and the lads did that.”
In particular there was an impressive performance from Isaac Cooper who grabbed two goals to his name, the second a fantastic back-heel inside the box to finish the scoring.
Abbott praised the work of Cooper as well as his frontline who were exceptional all afternoon despite the loss of Sam Agar through injury:
“He played very well it was a great goal. I thought he was exciting throughout and thought that all our front-loaded players were great and exciting going forward.”
“I think we’ve got goals all over the pitch. I think we’ve got four players on the first page of the goal scorers list on the league website, and it pays dividends.”
The team also produced a couple of well-worked moves from corners that resulted in goals for the team and Abbott conceded that it is something the team works on in training.
“With the short corner we like to get a one on one and loop the corner taker round the outside so we can change the angle of the delivery. We tend to threaten a lot more from when we do that then we do a straight delivery so particularly pleased to get a couple of goals from that routine.”
Another goalscorer in the match was Sean Williams, and he said he was pleased to contribute to the scoreline after he opened proceedings:
“I went through and the defenders didn’t track me and I just slotted it under the keeper. I feel like we had the beating of their back four today”
The side now turn their attention to the final game this season, the Jelson Homes Senior Cup final this Tuesday. Assistant manager Paul Tomlinson is looking forward to rewarding the fans.
“It’s something for the end of the season to give the supporters something as well it’s not just for the players, the guys who have watched us all season home and away.
“I think it is something for them to come and enjoy and hopefully we can put on a good performance like we have done today and pick up our first trophy as a brand new football club.”
“We just want to make sure that we’ve got enough fit players going into Tuesday that’s the key to it now, we got one or two knocks again today with Mitch (Tomlinson) going to the hospital with his broken nose  so we will see what we’ve got for Tuesday and go again.”
