Weather permitting, Hinckley AFC make their first away trip of 2026 to Banbury to take on Easington Sports on Saturday.
After starting the new year with a narrow loss to Eynesbury Rovers last weekend, Hinckley head to Oxfordshire looking to pick up their first points of January.
Given the weather that has hit the area this week, we will advise of pitch inspections and their outcomes as soon as possible.
The opposition
The reverse fixture marked Hinckley’s biggest win since promotion to step five but Easington are a different prospect since then.
Six wins and 23 points in total has seen them pull well clear of the relegation zone, and they started the new year in excellent shape last week with a 3-1 win away to Yaxley to move above the Peterborough club in the table.
Most of their success has come on the road, though – they have only won one game at Addison Road this season but remarkably that was a 3-0 success against leaders Nuneaton Town. However, they have drawn plenty of home games, including each of their last two.
Only Sileby Rangers have conceded more goals than Easington this season but they have scored their fair share and have both Josh Yeboah (12 goals) and Sam Lawrence (10) in double figures for the season.
From the dressing room
“When you’ve had a run of defeats, everyone has to be looking over their shoulders. The substitutes did excellently last weekend so it makes our lives easier going into the Easington game. We trained in midweek, saw who trained hard and who took accountability for last week and we’ll go again at Easington.”
