Hinckley AFC 0-1 Ingles

Hinckley AFC’s final home pre-season friendly before the new season ended in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Ingles.

Hinckley had the bulk of the ball for the most part but struggled to create much against a disciplined and well-organised Ingles back line.

Jared Bradshaw had AFC’s two best openings of the first half – he blazed over from 12 yards when he would normally hit the target, and then struck a swerving 25-yarder that was pushed away by the goalkeeper.

The second half saw AFC come closer – a trialist winger danced past a couple of challenges before a shot that struck the base of the post, while three times Hinckley flashed balls across the face of goal that they couldn’t turn home.

But Ingles grabbed the friendly win 15 minutes from time, when a break down the right and a deep low cross was finished superbly by Hamza Siddique from the edge of the box.

Hinckley have one final outing of pre-season – the Simon Blyth Memorial Trophy match at Heather St John’s on Saturday – before it’s all eyes on Daventry Town and the start of the United Counties Premier South season.
