Barber moves to step four

Last season’s Players’ Player and Manager’s Player of the Season Adam Barber has left Hinckley AFC to move up to a step four club.

Barber was all set to remain with Hinckley for another season until being offered the chance to move to a higher league, which he has accepted.

The left-back joined Hinckley in 2021, and spent time with Nuneaton Griff on dual registration before making his debut the following summer. He spent a couple of seasons competing with Danny Fraser for the left-back spot, and he also featured on the wing until making the number three shirt his own last season.

Memorably, he scored our late second goal at the Bescot Stadium which secured the Midland League Cup title in 2023, while he was also the scorer of our first goal at step five when he netted away to Eynesbury Rovers on the first day of last season.

They were two of the eight goals he scored during his 105 appearances for the club.

Barber is one of four players from the end of last season who won’t still be with the club to start this season. Harry Walker-Donovan has joined Atherstone Town, Jay D’Lionga has signed for Coton Green and Leo Farruch has re-located back down south after finishing his degree at Loughborough University.

We wish all four players the best of luck for the future.
