Match Preview: Bugbrooke St Michaels (h)

Hinckley AFC return to Kirkby Road as they welcome Bugbrooke St Michaels on Saturday for the second league meeting of the sides in quick succession.

Just over a month after Bugbrooke’s 3-1 win in Northamptonshire, the sides meet again with Hinckley looking to return the favour and extend their own good home form.

It’s six unbeaten at Kirkby Road for AFC, and despite not playing at home for just shy of a month, they will hope home comforts can see them back to winning ways.

The opposition

Since winning their first two games under new manager Scott Carlin, Bugbrooke have since lost four on the bounce but have had two weeks without a game to address that run since losing 3-2 to Aylestone Park.

It means they now sit 17th, with 14 points from 11 games and a three-point gap to bottom two GNG Oadby Town and Godmanchester Rovers.

That period has also seen them lose leading scorer Romeo Ingman, who scored twice against AFC last month, to AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

From the dressing room

“It was a disappointing night in the away fame there a few weeks ago. It was one that we felt we could win, especially after beating Newport Pagnell a couple of days previously. So they will come here noting how they beat us that night and hoping they can do it again.

We’ve got to find a way to be a lot better than we were at their place. We can take a lot from what we did at St Neots last week, and if we do play like we did last week then we’ve got every chance.”
