Rosepetals Player of the Month: September nominees

Carl Abbott’s final month as Hinckley AFC manager yielded three wins, a draw and two defeats, but who should win the Rosepetals Player of the Month?

We’ve put forward the four nominees as George Bowerman, Lee Butler, Joe Haines and Steve Hart, but who do you think should win?

September 2017 POTM

As August’s winner, Bowerman will be looking to make it two consecutive Player of the Month awards after making the list again for September. The former Walsall forward scored six goals in six games, only failing to find the net at Ilkeston Town – and even then he came close but for Ian Deakin’s stunning save. It’s now 14 in 13 this term for Bowerman.

Captain Lee Butler put in another solid month in the middle of the park, and played every minute of every game apart from being substituted through injury at Ilkeston. He scored a fine free kick during that game and looked assured throughout September.

The third nominee is Haines, who has impressed since joining in the summer. The left back played one or two games in the middle of a back three this month and looked assured in either position, with a good delivery from set pieces.

Finally, powerful striker Hart wasn’t a Hinckley player at the start of the month but blasted six goals in his five games to find his way onto the shortlist. The former Stapenhill man scored a vital late penalty to salvage a point at Cadbury, while scoring twice each against Coventry Copsewood and Brocton.
