Hinckley AFC’s first home game of the season brings the visit of county rivals Leicester Nirvana to Kirkby Road on Monday night.
After a 2-1 loss at Newark Town on the opening day, it’s a first return home of the season next against a county rival who will provide a rare familiar opponent this season.
The opposition
Like Hinckley, Leicester Nirvana moved across from the UCL South to the North over the summer so they are also faced with the challenge of settling into a new league this season.
But they started superbly on Saturday, beating title favourites Eastwood 4-3 away from home in a seven-goal thriller. Josh Allen scored twice and Tamar Clayton-Naute once at the weekend – both of those scored at Kirkby Road when the teams last met in March.
But they have also added fresh faces since then with the return of forward Jorrin John, and the addition of Kairo Edwards-John who scored more than 50 goals in this league for Melton Town.
Last season’s games ended with one win apiece – both to the away side with Hinckley taking it 3-1 at Hamilton Park and Nirvana winning 3-2 at Kirkby Road.

“They’ll be similar to what we faced on Saturday at Newark, they’ll be physical. They had a great result at the weekend so they’ll be no pushover at all, having beaten a side who arguably should win the league in Eastwood. So we know what we’re up against but we’ll be chomping at the bit to try and get three points on the board.”
