Match Preview: Moulton (a)

Just two weeks after the sides last met, Hinckley AFC and Moulton face off again, this time for a first ever visit by AFC to Brunting Road.

Hinckley were edged out of a spot in the League Cup semi-finals a fortnight ago when a second-half comeback wasn’t enough to deny Moulton a 3-2 win – and this time they will hope to replicate their second-half display across 90 minutes and take three valuable league points.

They recorded a big win last week, 7-0 over GNG Oadby Town, and will take confidence from that into this week’s visit to Northampton.

The opposition

Moulton’s game last week was postponed so their most recent match was that trip to Kirkby Road, in which they ended a five-match winless run.

But that run saw them slip out of the play-offs, and they have played more matches than all the other contenders for the top five.

Their home form has been good – they’ve won nine of their 16 league games at Brunting Road – but that took a hit last time out when Aylestone Park hit six against them.

Nat Ansu, who came off the bench in that League Cup tie, is their top scorer on nine goals for the season while Nathan Amaning and Matt Long have eight each. Terry Falcini has four, but three of them have come in the two games against Hinckley.

From the dressing room

“In the two games we’ve played against Moulton, for whatever reason, we haven’t brought a performance. This time, on the back of a great win last week, I expect us to go there and show the real Hinckley AFC.”
