Lutterworth Town 1-3 Hinckley AFC

An excellent away day saw Hinckley make it back to back victories on the road as they avenged their home defeat by Lutterworth a couple of months ago to win 3-1 at Dunley Way.

It was a solid, gritty display full of character from the entire team, from Divin Emmanuel whose assuredness in goal improves by the week to Chandler Pegg who ran his socks off up front throughout and all players in between.

Hinckley had to do it the hard way too as they conceded the first goal. Lutterworth started well and forced a few corners that came to nothing and Emmanuel was called into action as he raced from his line to block Tendai Daire as he bore down on goal.

Lutterworth took the lead on twenty minutes, a corner was only cleared to the edge of the box and Daire lashed home the loose ball.

That goal sparked Hinckley into life and they quickly levelled. The goal was as messy as they come, Jacob Shilton, who had another solid game at the back, delivered a long throw to create a frantic goalmouth scramble that was ended when Lucinee Donzo forced the ball home from close range for his first league goal for the club.

Hinckley hit the front just before half time. It was a wonderful goal from Zach Tellyn who collected a loose ball in the inside left channel and kept control superbly on a difficult surface before applying a neat finish to cap a fine strike.

The second half began as an open affair with chances for both sides. Emmanuel made a couple of smart saves whilst at the other end Tellyn and Pegg fired off target when well placed.

Lutterworth’s chances of getting back into the game were dealt a blow by a moment of madness on the hour from Jarred Acton, who headbutted Pegg after fouling the Hinckley striker to earn a straight red card.

AFC just had to keep their composure, which they did and they sealed the points late on. After waiting over a year for one league goal for Hinckley, Donzo again was the scorer for his second in the space of 50 minutes as he rose to head home Jared Bradshaw’s pin point cross from the left to send the travelling supporters back home in a festive mood.
