After three straight local derbies, Hinckley AFC are back on the road for one of their longer trips of the season with the visit to Eynesbury Rovers on Saturday.
This marks the first of five consecutive away games for Hinckley, with the squad hitting the road over the next month and hoping to find the form they showed in September.
That starts with a visit to Cambridgeshire to take on a side who have also begun the season with ups and downs and lots of goals.
The opposition
Eynesbury are six points behind Hinckley heading into this meeting but with three games in hand, courtesy of good runs in both FA competitions.
They reached the second round qualifying of the FA Cup and are still in the Vase after a 3-0 win against Biggleswade United last week that takes them into the second round.
In the league, their games have been action-packed. Their last seven Premier South games have included two 4-3s, a 4-2 and a 3-3 – so goals are expected, given Hinckley’s status as the league’s joint-leading scorers.
They have 15 points from 12 games, with 10 of those points coming at home – including a win over fourth-placed Moulton last time out.
Luke Young leads the way with 12 goals while the league’s leading scorer last season, Victor Osobu, has eight and Lewis Lynn seven.
Hinckley won both games 3-1 against Eynesbury last season – an away victory in our first match as a step five club in July, before the same result on a stormy December afternoon at Kirkby Road.
From the dressing room
“We’re looking forward to it. We want more consistency, we can’t keep getting out of a rut and getting back into one. The games have come thick and fast and it’s been tough because we haven’t had much time to train. But we’ll get there, we’re buying into everything the gaffers are doing and it’ll come for us.”
