Hinckley AFC are delighted to confirm the appointment of Ross Innes, Adam Davies and Chris Tullin as our new management team.
Ross and Adam spent just over three years at Atherstone Town as joint managers, with Chris working alongside them as a coach for the bulk of that time, during which time they guided the Adders to step five and took charge of two FA Vase quarter-finals.
They left there in 2023 when Innes and Davies moved abroad, but they have since returned to the UK and will take charge of Hinckley for the first time on Saturday with our Vase trip to Pershore Town.
Innes said: “We’ve had lots of offers since returning, but as a three, we always said we’d only come back together for this position at Hinckley.
“The club has a huge fanbase, with huge potential, and a great history. It’s everything we want to be involved with and is something we can progress further.
“We want to create something special again – with a hardworking team, incorporating young players to work with and develop, to help attract even bigger and better crowds at Hinckley.”
A former Leicester City academy coach, Innes spent a brief period as assistant manager at Hinckley under Courtney Belford, before leaving to take on the manager’s role at Atherstone with Davies, who played against Hinckley a number of times for Nuneaton Griff, in March 2020.
One of their first games in charge was an FA Vase quarter-final, before lockdown curtailed both of their first two seasons in charge.
Tullin, who had a long playing career with the likes of Rugby Town and Bedworth United, joined as part of their backroom team soon after and their first full season brought remarkable success. They guided Atherstone to the Midland League Division One title by 17 points, losing just one league match all season. They also reached the FA Vase third round that season.
And their success in that competition continued in 2022/23, when they reached the quarter-finals again, before losing on penalties to holders Newport Pagnell Town. That season, they stabilised Atherstone at step five before stepping aside that summer.
Hinckley AFC Chairman, Bryan White, said: “The board felt it was important to act swiftly to ensure stability, so we approached two management teams who we felt match our objectives and requirements.
“Both were impressive but Ross, Adam and Chris’ experience and pedigree shone through. We as a board are looking forward to working with them.”
Welcome to Hinckley, Ross, Adam and Chris!
