Hinckley AFC 4-1 GNG Oadby Town

Hinckley made it seven straight league wins at home as they repeated the scoreline of the reverse fixture earlier in the season by beating Oadby 4-1.

The outcome was never in doubt from the early stages, when Hinckley opened up a two goal lead to lay the foundations for a result that sees them climb back into the play-off places.

On a bitterly cold afternoon, the 3G surface suited both sides who passed the ball well, but the defining factor was in the attacking third. For all their neat and tidy build up play, Oadby lacked a cutting edge up front whilst Hinckley were full of attacking invention down both flanks, Leo Farruch earning his Man of the Match award whilst Isa Abraham was back to something approaching his best form in the first half.

It took just nine minutes for the home side to go in front, Farruch’s burst from halfway took him into the box, his shot was blocked by ‘keeper Adam Binks but as the ball spun around in the area it struck a visiting hand. Farruch dispatched the penalty, despite the best efforts of Binks.

Moments later, the lead was doubled. Calum Flanagan’s looping header was cleared off the line and from the resulting corner, Ky Green’s header was spilled by Binks and Bryan Kohyrelon pounced to sweep home the loose ball.

Binks atoned for his error with some fine saves as Hinckley got on top towards the end of the half. He denied Farruch and Abraham, the latter after he nutmegged his man on a solo run into the box, before Binks made the best save of the lot just before the break, an excellent one-handed effort to keep out Farruch.

Hinckley made the game safe early in the second half, Farruch did superbly on the left flank to rob his man and deliver a low cross for Kohyrelon to convert his second of the afternoon.

The game threatened to fizzle out before Oadby enjoyed their best spell of the game in the closing stages. Mandeep Bains should have scored but blazed over after good work by Marley Spencer before they grabbed a consolation with ten minutes remaining, Jamie Hoyland netting a rebound after a great save from Keelan Fallows.

But Hinckley restored their three-goal lead deep into time added on. Jared Bradshaw enjoyed another fruitful afternoon, prompting much of AFC’s attacking threat and he delivered a delightful pass to pick out Chandler Pegg whose finish was exquisite, curling his shot home inside the far post to cap a fine afternoon’s work.
