Hinckley AFC will begin 2025 with a trip to Yaxley providing their first match of the New Year on Saturday, kick off 2pm.
After a 10-day break following the Boxing Day stalemate at Lutterworth, Hinckley head into the final 15 games of the league season just a point and a place back from the play-off spots, having closed the gap on the top five in recent weeks.
And they will hope to take the form in which they ended the old year into the new one, after a run of 16 points from seven games that lifted them to sixth place.
The opposition
In contrast to Hinckley, Yaxley will hope the new year brings them a change of results.
Despite losing their opening four games, the Cuckoos then went on a run of five wins in seven to lift them into sixth spot by the end of October.
But since then, they have lost eight of their last nine in all competitions to slip back to 15th in the table, with 26 points from their 23 games.
Such is the tight nature of the middle section of the table, they are only eight points behind Hinckley and nine away from the play-offs – and will hope to start 2025 with another impressive run to get them back in the mix.
Their games usually contain plenty of goals – only the top three sides have scored more, but only the bottom two have conceded more. Ryley Nicholson and Matt Harris-Hercules are both in double figures for the season while Julinho Gomes has chipped in with nine.
