Joe Conneely has added to his backroom team at Hinckley AFC by bringing in Alfie Marsden as a first team coach.
Marsden was on the coaching team at Highgate United last season as they reached the Midland League Premier Division play-offs, before taking on the managerial role in the summer.
He led them against Hinckley in the FA Cup in August but left earlier this month, and has quickly been snapped up to join Conneely and Sam Belcher at Hinckley.
On his decision to join, Marsden said: “I’m happy to be here. The ideas Joe presented to me match my values, and the club’s ambition ticked a lot of boxes. There’s a good project going on, and when we crossed paths earlier in season the whole club struck me.
“I like attacking football, I like to be free-flowing but I’d hope to add a good structure out of possession, where we’ve struggled a bit, and add a bit of defensive security.
“I prioritise strong relationships with my players, where I am always looking to create, share and achieve our ambitions and help each individual to focus on their development.”
Conneely added: “Alfie had an impossible task at Highgate really, they had to build from scratch again with no budget. But he built a good young side who tried to do things properly, they were a bit naïve but that comes with being a young side.
“We’re really pleased he’s come in with us. He’s analytical and gives us another set of eyes that I’ve been after, we always wanted three of us ideally. He’ll be part of everything we do, we’ll bounce things off each other and I’m looking forward to getting to work with him.”
Welcome to Hinckley, Alfie!
