Hinckley AFC play their final game of a memorable Midland League Division One season with Saturday’s visit to Smethwick Rangers.
With the title already secured and crowing complete, Hinckley head into the final league game knowing they can savour every minute of being champions.
They will, though, want to complete the season with another win when they head to Boldmere to take on a Smethwick side whose recent form has been beyond that of their league position.
The opposition
Smethwick are unbeaten in their last four matches, a run that has seen them jump off the bottom of the table.
Included in that have been impressive home wins over top-half duo Bilston Town and Wednesfield, while draws at Coventry Copsewood and AFC Bridgnorth have also boosted hopes that they can avoid the drop. Key to that run has been Lucas Edwards, who has scored in three of those four games.
Five of their seven wins this season have come at home, with them also beating Droitwich Spa at Church Road in December.
Previous meetings
Hinckley won the reverse fixture 5-1 back in December thanks to four first-half goals and two penalties from Lewis Rankin. They also won the away game last April, getting revenge for Smethwick’s 3-0 win in the first ever meeting between the sides in November 2022.

Smethwick share Boldmere St Michaels’ home at Church Road, Sutton Coldfield, B73 5RY.
