Hinckley AFC have completed the signing of midfielder Zakim Evans from league rivals Stapenhill.
Evans arrives in LE10 having spent the last four seasons with the Swans, since joining them in 2019.
He has played just shy of 100 times for them in Division One during that time, despite two of those seasons being cut short by pandemic lockdowns, and scored ten times. He was part of the Stapenhill side that reached the play-off final two seasons ago, and scored against Hinckley in the opening home game of last season.
Joint-manager Joe Conneely said: “Zaki’s a very good player. Courtney has worked really hard to get him over the line.
“He trained with us before the Heather friendly and said he’d play those two games, and he enjoyed what we were about and the way we played.
“He’s a central player who is combative, can play, knows his role well, is good on the ball and in the air. He’s also aggressive and covers a lot of ground. He’s different to what we’ve had previously, does a bit of everything, and he’s in his mid-20s now so is a bit of a leader too.
“We’re really pleased to get him done.”
Before joining Stapenhill, Zaki spent time with their local rivals Gresley, where he featured for the first team at step four.
You can sponsor Zaki for just £50 for the entire 2023/24 season, getting your name or business alongside his in each home league matchday programme and on the club website. To sponsor a player, contact Mark Langley on a matchday or email mark@hinckleyafc.co.uk.
Welcome to Hinckley, Zaki!
