Centre back Ben Whitehead has returned to Hinckley AFC on a three-month loan deal from Rugby Town.
The tall defender was a regular feature at the heart of the back four last season, and has played 48 times for the club in total.
A talented ball player, Courtney Belford gave him the Manager’s Player of the Year award in 2021/22 while his only goal for the club to date came in the win at St Martins.
He left to join Rugby Town in the summer but has found opportunities limited and is back at the club for game time.
Manager Joe Conneely said: “Ben had an operation in the summer and Rugby are flying at the minute so he’s found it difficult to get in there.
“He’s a fantastic option for us to have defensively. We were looking for another defender, and Ben can be as good as he wants to be.
“As long as he comes in and works hard, which I’m sure he will, both us and Ben will benefit from having him back. This is somewhere he’s comfortable and we want to get the best out of him.”
His loan back to Kirkby Road will last until the early part of the New Year. Rugby have the option to recall Ben if required, but only after the first 28 days.
Welcome back, Ben.
