Hinckley AFC’s Under 18s kept their unbeaten start to the season with an outstanding 9-1 win over Coton Green at Kirkby Road.
A goal fest on a chilly evening warmed the healthy crowd of 73 in Barwell, who saw AFC’s youngsters enjoy a comfortable win, writes Lee Measom.
Barely a minute in and Coton Green took the lead, a good first save from Hinckley goalkeeper Pearce but the rebound was put in.
But with 17 gone at Kirkby Road Hinckley drew level. Coton tried to clearing but only found the head of Marley Sweenie-Rowe, who made it into a pass for Leo Kelly who skilfully took it round the defender and powered it into the keeper’s right hand side.
Shortly after, Hinckley had turned it around. Kelly was once again at the heart of things, a good pass to Hinckley’s captain Joshua Clark who had a shot saved but Kelly followed it up and finished coolly.
Now dominant, Hinckley added two more before half-time. Clarke took it round the goalkeeper for the third and finished calmly before Kelly made a good run down the left and played a simple ball across the box for Rio Donaldson to finish.
The goals kept coming in the second half. Great team play by Hinckley ended up with Kyle Whitley scoring a neat finish for the fifth. Ryan Friday soon added a sixth after ghosting through the defence, and another goal soom followed when Sonny Sheasby got through the defence and finished.
Friday added two more for AFC in the final twenty minutes, both times ghosting through the defence to finish and earn his hat-trick.
That made the score 9-1 and wrapped up a good night for Hinckley’s Under 18s.
