Hinckley AFC go into a match top of the table for the first time this season and will hope to stay there with a win over Gedling Miners Welfare.
AFC moved to the summit with last week’s win over Borrowash Victoria and stayed there after Aylestone Park’s defeat the following day.
Now, they’ll aim to capitalise on that with a win at in-form Gedling.
They had won four on the bounce, including beating Belper United, until a defeat to Harrowby United last week.
Gedling have won 11 and lost 10 of their 21 league games so far, with two draws. That included a 6-0 win for Hinckley in the reverse fixture, our first home game of the season back in August.
And manager Courtney Belford said called that one an unbelievable result: “I thought they were a big, strong and physical side. They caused us a few problems that day. We were ruthless and that’s the difference sometimes.
“The next three games will be really tough. To be where we need to come the end of 2021, it’ll take a lot of grit, determination, work rate and quality. But we’ve got that.
“We’re not worried about playing anybody. We’ve got confidence, but that’s not an arrogance. We know we still need to outwork teams, but do that and our quality should shine through.”
Ex-Basford and Long Eaton forward Ruben Wiggins-Thomas is their leading scorer with 12, while Greg Tempest has chipped in with a useful ten.
Gedling play at Plains Road, Mapperley, Nottingham, NG3 5RH. The ground is next to the Nuffield Health and Fitness Centre.
