The vote for Hinckley AFC’s Player of the Month for November is now open with four nominees to choose from.
Another good month for Courtney Belford’s side yielded five wins, a draw and a defeat and earned us the United Counties League’s Division One Team of the Month.
But who stood out as your Hinckley AFC Player of the Month? We’ve narrowed it down to four nominees – and these are who we’ve gone with…
The nominees
On the shortlist for a second month in a row, Tom Weale only narrowly missed out on the October award but had another impressive month in the middle of the park. He started six of our seven matches this month, only missing the defeat to Radford. And although this was the first month of the season in which he didn’t score, his influence on matches rarely dropped off and he was involved in setting up a number of goals across the month. A versatile month, he also played at centre back at Kimberley and up front at Graham St Prims.
Ever present this season, goalkeeper Matt Hill also makes it onto the shortlist after keeping three clean sheets throughout November – including in the vital win at Kimberley. He hasn’t missed a minute of action all season and has made some outstanding saves when called upon, including in the defeat to Radford this month.
Last month’s winner Jack Edwards also makes it back onto the shortlist after another good month for the young midfielder. He played six of our seven matches, only missing the win over Ingles through illness. And as well as his combative nature of breaking up play, he also scored important goals at important times against both Aylestone Park and Graham Street Prims.
The final nominee is left back Mikkel Hirst. Up against a number of tricky wingers throughout November, they rarely got a look in against Hirst who impressed both defensively and going forward. He missed the defeat to Radford through illness but played in every other match and his energetic displays down the left flank earned a number of assists on top of his defensive prowess.
