The vote for Hinckley AFC’s Player of the Month for October is now open with four nominees to choose from.
After the month started with defeat, the reaction to that was a perfect one from Courtney Belford’s men. Six wins, four clean sheets and 28 goals later – AFC sit in the United Counties League play-off spots.
It was an impressive month across the park and incredibly difficult to narrow down to just four nominees – but these are who we’ve gone with…
The nominees
Of Ryan Slinn’s six appearances in the month, only three were from the start but the winger scored arguably our two goal of the month contenders at Harrowby and Borrowash. In particular, his strike at Harrowby, dancing past three defenders before slotting home, was crucial in a 4-3 win while he also bagged a hat-trick at Borrowash. In a great month for him, he ended it by getting married. Congratulations, Ryan!
Tom Weale started every game through October and, while his goalscoring exploits weren’t quite as hot as earlier in the season, his influence never waned. He scored once against Holwell and twice against Blackstones, also forcing two own goals from his free-kicks. His assist tally was high too.
Speaking of influence, Jack Edwards’ tenacious midfield appearances also earned him a place among the nominees. His two goals, at Lutterworth and Harrowby, came at important times but his industry in midfield and breaking up of play were crucial in earning Hinckley the upper hand in midfield.
The final nominee is Charlie Evans. He was our leading scorer this month, with six goals in seven games for the former Rugby and Stratford man. His goals were always well-taken in a month of clinical finishing, and like Weale he assisted a number of others too.

The vote is pinned to the top of our Twitter page – @hinckley_afc and will be live for exactly one week. We’ll announce the winner ahead of next Tuesday’s match with Ingles, which will be our first back at Kirkby Road on their new pitch.
