Hinckley AFC will go in search of a club record-equalling seventh straight league win when they face Saffron Dynamo at St John’s Park on Tuesday evening.
AFC have won their last six on the bounce hitting 28 goals in the process, including eight in Saturday’s victory over Blackstones.
That ended a five match streak of hitting four in each match, while they have also kept three straight clean sheets.
It puts AFC in fifth, the final play-off spot, with just seven points separating the top seven sides. Hinckley have a game in hand on all those seven, expect Belper United.
Meanwhile, Saffron sit mid-table going into this one, with a symmetrical record – they have won six, drawn six and lost six of their opening 18 games after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Graham Street Prims. Joe Wynder and Elliot Butler are their leading marksmen with nine apiece.
The only meeting between the sides came in the reverse fixture back in August, when AFC were denied an opening day win by a stoppage time equaliser. Tom Weale had put Hinckley ahead despite a far from vintage performance.
But displays have been much more fluent since and Belford’s men will hope to add another to their win tally
This match will be played at St John’s Park and is our final one at Heather before returning to Kirkby Road for the visit of Ingles next week.
