Hinckley AFC and NKF Burbage renew the most local of rivalries tomorrow when Courtney Belford takes his AFC side to Kirkby Road, kick off 3pm.
After another weather-affected run, this will be AFC’s only game in nearly four weeks should it go ahead – having not played since 8th February, the trip to Atherstone on Wednesday postponed and not having a match next Saturday.
Burbage have said the pitch is heavy after Thursday’s rain, but if it does go ahead AFC will be looking to strengthen their grip on seventh.
Belford’s men currently have a one point lead over Rocester, albeit with three games in hand on the Romans.
Hinckley will be looking for their first win in the fixture, Burbage having had the better of the trio of meetings so far – including the reverse fixture at the Welfare Ground in October.
But Burbage have had an impressive start to life under new manager Dave Cook, winning three of their last six – all of which have been against sides in the top six.
Wins away to Brocton, and at home to Studley and Atherstone, have lifted them to 13th with 32 points from their 27 games.
Former AFC man Jake Brown is suspended for Burbage tomorrow having been sent off in their last game – but AFC’s ex-Burbage forward Scott Smith will want to taste success on a return to his former club.
