Hinckley AFC go to Stapenhill on Boxing Day looking to end a run of three without a win in a weather-hit recent run.
AFC looked on course for a vital win on Saturday to help close the gap on the top four, but were punished for not taking their chances despite a good performance when Paget Rangers scored a late equaliser.
This week, Hinckley have a Boxing Day away game for the first time – having been at home for each of the previous five. in the club’s existence.
The festive record stands at a two wins, against Nuneaton Griff and Leicester Road, a draw against Griff and two defeats, both of which came against Heather St John’s in the last two seasons.
This Boxing Day the hosts are Stapenhill, who have been affected by the weather even more than Hinckley in recent weeks.
They’ve played just three league games since the middle of October, and no side in the entire league has played fewer matches than the Swans.
They have drawn both of their last two games 1-1 including, like Hinckley, a trip to Paget last time out.
But Hinckley know their threat, having seen it first hand back in August when Stapenhill raced into a three-goal lead by half time. Ryan King has netted 15 goals already and is comfortably their leading scorer, while Callum Riddell (six) and Ashley Garner (five) have supported well.
A win for AFC would end their 2019 on a high, having started the calendar year with a win over the same opposition in January, and get the results back on track ahead of a hectic January which has eight games scheduled to start 2020.
