Hinckley AFC World Cup 2017: Quarter Final 2

Following on from the start earlier this week, it’s now time for the second quarter final tie in Hinckley AFC’s World Cup 2017.
The win over Deeping Rangers in the FA Vase was the first to make it through to the semi finals, but what will join it? Carry on reading to find out which games are in quarter final two, and decide who you’re going to vote for…

Pink kit squad pic
For this one, cast you mind all the way back to the start of February and a game that was less about the result, though it was impressive in itself, and more about the circumstances around the game.
Just ten days after the passing of our friend and colleague Simon Blyth, AFC’s players took to the pitch in a pink kit to commemorate World Cancer Day, each shirt bearing the name ‘Blyth’ on the back.
On the pitch, AFC never looked like relinquishing the lead given to them by Ryan Seal’s first half penalty, even less so when Jamal Clarke slid home a second and James Williams nodded in a third after half time.
A fine result against a side doing well, but this one was more about the occasion

Nuneaton Griff 1-2 Hinckley AFC
3Q1A6866
Up against it is a game a little more recent. Cast your mind back to last week, and that dramatic late winner on derby day at Nuneaton Griff.
The talk going into the game was of Belford v Belford in opposite dugouts, but at the end it was all about Steve Hart’s 93rd minute winner.
Half a sight of goal in the right channel, he delicately lofted the bouncing ball over the advancing ‘keeper with the outside of his left foot to send all three points on a short trip six miles back down the A5.
The game itself was by no means a classic, Hinckley by no means at their best. But Luke Richards equalised Jack Colley’s first half opener for the Griff to set the game up for Hart to have the final say.
