It’s tenants v landlords at St John’s Park this afternoon as Hinckley AFC take on Heather St John’s in the Midland League First Division.
AFC’s second local derby in succession sees Carl Abbott’s side face Stephen Rigby’s Heather outfit who currently occupy eighth spot in the league.
That’s despite losing five of their last seven league games, winning the other two, and exiting the Jelson Homes Senior Cup at the semi-final stage after losing to Holwell Sports on penalties on Tuesday.
They have recently signed former Hinckley midfielder Ross Clarke, who was a member of AFC’s 27 game unbeaten run back in 2014-15, while also possessing another former Hinckley player in striker Deqwon Ebanks.
Hinckley, meanwhile, will be looking to get back to winning ways after Tuesday’s late defeat to Atherstone Town that saw them lose at St John’s Park for just the second time in the league this season.
The loss leaves them in second, a point ahead of Leicester Road but having played a game more than the side in third.
After both meetings between the sides in Hinckley’s inaugural season ended level, AFC have had the upper hand by winning the last three games against their landlords – the most recent coming on New Year’s Eve when James Williams, Lee Butler and Javia Roberts found the net in a 3-1 victory.
