Two of the Midland League Division One’s top five meet tomorrow when Hinckley AFC travel to Lichfield City, kick off 3pm.
The meeting of fourth placed Lichfield and AFC, currently fifth, will see the league’s best attack take on its third best defence.
As the top scorers in the league, AFC have been irresistible in front of goal recently and Carl Abbott’s side have netted 23 times in their last three league games.
Lichfield, meanwhile, have kept two clean sheets in their last three and only Coventry Copsewood and Leicester Road have managed to breach their defence more than once in the league this season.
At the other end, their main source of goals has been Ben Lund, who has scored thirteen goals in nineteen games this season.
Lund is one of a host of players in the league on thirteen goals – including AFC’s Sam Agar – but at the top of the chart is Hinckley skipper Ryan Seal with 26 goals in just seventeen games.
Seal netted another treble in last week’s Buildbase FA Vase win at Paget Rangers, which helped put his side into the third round of the competition for the first time.
Meanwhile, Lichfield exited the competition last week when they were beaten 3-1 by Bromsgrove Sporting in front a 747 at The Victoria Ground.
Tomorrow’s hosts lie just one point above Hinckley in the table, having played a game more, meaning AFC will leapfrog Lichfield if they come away with all three points.
Lichfield play at The McDonald’s Community Stadium, Brownsfield Park, Brownsfield Road, Lichfield, Staffordshire, WS13 6AY.
