Hinckley AFC’s final home pre-season friendly saw them defeated 4-0 by Leicestershire rivals Barwell at St John’s Park.
As expected, the Northern Premier League side had more of the ball throughout and scored two goals in each half.
But it was a good workout for Hinckley, with their FA Cup tie against Heanor Town coming up in ten days time.
Barwell’s early threat came mostly down their right hand side, and it was this avenue that gave them their first goal four minutes in. Brady Hickey knocked down a cross, allowing Amarvir Sandhu to convert from close range.
And The Canaries doubled their lead on the quarter hour mark, the goal again coming from the right hand side as Joe Sinton’s fine ball in was headed home by Sandhu.
Hinckley grew into the half as it progressed, going close through Ryan Seal’s thirty yard effort, and when a trialist saw a shot cleared off the line.
Barwell continued to assert their higher level dominance after the break. Owen Story and Sinton both struck the goalkeeper’s right hand post before Ryan Baldwin added a third goal, firing home at the near post.
The visitors’ win was rounded off late on as a trialist was sent through on goal and slotted under the advancing ‘keeper.
Hinckley’s final test of pre-season comes on Saturday, when Abbo’s men face a trip to Market Drayton Town.
